Happy 4th of July to you and your family! This is truly a moment to reflect on the ideals the founding fathers of this great country fought for.

...the first Independence Day celebration under Obama administration! So how's USA? Have you seen the so-called 'change' he's been boasting during the campaign period, yet?

I was expecting to see photos of fireworks display in this page, actually... What happened? No fireworks because of the 'challenges' nowadays?

The Nomadic Pinoy, Happy 4th din ya iyo. Do you feel any different now that you are a US citizen?

BlogusVox, thanks!

Sardonyx, fireworks and parades used to be a big thing when my children were young but no longer. I'd rather watch the celebrations on TV if I can keep my eyes open LOL.

RJ,changes? Wala pa akong nararamdaman. There better be some because we are still on a downward spin complement of the previous administration.

the DonG, thanks!

bing, thanks for your visit.

Reena, I feel an uncomfortable detachment but a heartfelt appreciation of the opportunities made available to me when I settled here. I'll be lying through my teeth if I say I could have done better if I remained in Pinas. Some of my high school and college buddies who decided to stay did do better but they are from families that are, near or at the top of the political, economical and social pyramid and/or intellectually well endowed. I have none of that going for me LOL. I have no regrets leaving but you cannot take the country where I was born out of me.

naiyak ako sa mumunting speech nyo. :) i'm not sure yet if i want to work abroad esp now that there are a lot of opportunities. bka ma-homesick ako! hehe

Reena, don't worry about getting homesick. It is a very common ailment that is self-healing LOL. You have "youth" as a formidable ally - you can afford to make many mistakes in life and learn from it to be a better you.

Hi Bert,
I feel so proud now that I'm an American citizen pero siempre, di ko rin maiaalis sa akin ang pinanggalingan ko. Mabuti na lamang at malalim ang relasyon ng Amerika at Pilipinas.

The Nomadic Pinoy, I am glad you feel the same way I do about our country of origin - I hope you never change. I have spent more years here and other countries than in Pinas but Pinas will always be in my heart.
