Graduation, soccer game and a relaxing walk

My wife and I went to San Francisco to visit our daughter and grandson and to attend the graduation of a niece at Fairfield. Instead of flying, I decided to drive because going through the security checks at the airport is starting to get to me. It is becoming to be too annoyingly invasive. I bet the terrorists are laughing their hearts out - they are winning the war on terror although we think we are beating them.

The ones on the left are the graduates and the ones on the right are the faculty members of the school of nursing. I observed that most of the graduates are not as young as I though they would be, afterall a registered nursing degree is only a two year course. My niece told me some of them are into their second professional career, some have families to raise and some, like her, took their sweet time getting their degree while working or goofing around LOL.

Munchies after the ceremony

OK show us what you got!

Never mine if you missed the goal by a mile, we are still your number one fan. A little more practice and dedication and you will make it to the World Cup in 2012 LOL.

Quit goofing around, this is a formal team photo!

A nice trail just a stone's throw from my daughter's condo

That's the famous Cliff House in the background. It is obscured by haze, distance and my lack of photographic skill but it is in the frame, slightly to the right of center, trust me LOL.

A view of the beach taken near the Cliff House

A lousy shot of the Sutro bath ruins. I should have gone down and take better pics but I was racing against the impending rain to complete the coastal trail.

A section of the trail with the Golden Gate bridge in the background

Going down the steps is the easy part.

One of the things I like about California and almost all the states I have visited, is the abundance of well-maintained trails within their cities for walking, jogging and biking. You don't have to drive to a national park to enjoy a leisurely hike.

that part of sf is really gorgeous (well the entire 49sqmi is) and a hike at Lands End is perfect any time of the day.

did you get a bite at cliff house? it's been ages since i went there. pang turista kc eh

ay correct! ganyan din ang gusto ko. yun bang pwede kang magmuni-muni sa isang park na malapit lang.

my cousin is studying nursing there too. bakit kaya 2 yr course lng? samantalang dito ang daming pinagdadaanan

it must be a long drive to san francisco from your place.
i remember our tourist bus before took us from beverly hills to sta monica, sta barbara, 17 mile drive, carmel, slept a night at a cheap hotel before heading to san francisco. i miss the bay area because of this post.

ganyan pala graduation dyan sa states ng nursing, naka-scrub suits. dito kasi kahit 1st or second or even 3rd coursers who took RN course wear toga during the rites.

don't get me wrong, i know what matters most is what you do with your degree after the ceremony and not what you wear during the event.

nice trail tracks you got there on the last photo.

happy father's day, bert!
mabuhay ang mga tatay!

bing, lovely trail and not challenging physically.

Photo Cache, my daughter used to take me to the Cliff House for brunch whenever I come to visit her when she was still a law student at Hastings (siya ang manager, ako ang money down LOL).

Reena, their registered nursing degree is a two year course but there is also a four year Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing which is the equivalent of what we have back home. Their school does not offer the bachelor's degree though.

docgelo, you probably took the scenic Hwy 1 on your way to SF, did you? That's a beauty of a drive.

You are one of the best Tatay in the world. I hope Gabby knows that; if not, he'll know it when he gets to be a father.

Hey Bert,
It's so true about the abundant well-maintained trails within the US cities - at least the ones I visited. Makes Mother Nature really accessible.

Happy Father's Day!

The Nomadic Pinoy, thanks for the greeting.

you still lack photography skills?! are you kidding? the pics are marvelous!! I like coastal views! It's either I become too sad and want to reminisce or I become to happy and enjoy the sceneries! I might drop here regularly, ha? First time but I like the pics talaga! :)

all this and you say you lack photographic skills? Hmmm I wonder what it would be like when you're really good at it?

dong ho, I'm sure I'll be back there and soon.

Beth, thanks for dropping by. I'm glad you like the pics.

Rolly, I'll pass the message to my niece. I hope she continue on to get her bachelor's degree sooner than she planned.

dodong flores, it's a good and safe place to bike - there's no traffic to fight and no danger from being hit by passing vehicles.

June, thanks for dropping by.
