What a difference a meltdown makes

The current economic meltdown in the US of A has affected my 4o1K retirement nest egg. It is now down to 201K and still going down LOL. And with all the stimulus money being pumped by the government to the ailing economy, its inflationary effect is going to further erode my nest egg. As a move to neutralize the decline of my buying power, I am going to seek the best value for my money from now on.

This piece of chicken and plate of chicken caesar salad which I got from Costco cost $9. This is good enough for two, maybe even three people.

This half-chicken with a piece of corn bread and sides of corn and green beans from Boston Chicken costs a little over $8 with tax.

I paid $17, exclusive of tax and tip for this plate of grilled trout with broccoli and baked potato at a Red Lobster resto.
Guess what I am going to do more often from now on? LOL. This economic downturn is now worldwide. Thanks to the greed of corporate America and the shakers and movers of Wall Street! How are you guys coping with it?

You are right my 401k is now half of what was before, and indeed 201k now hahaha. I think most of us are now tightening our budget. Being in the US military really now pays off, "job security" and being away from US temporarily makes us being away from economic depression (for now). Just enjoy life to the fullest :-)

haha natawa ko dun sa 401k to 201k, hope the economy rebounds for the better soon. The food looks delicious by the way, I remember ate at Red lobster, the seafood pasta's serving was unimaginably too much, but that was 10 years ago. hehe

This is a feast! Doesn't look like there's an economic downturn in the US of A. Your dinner must be a king's before the crisis!

[I am imagining you Mr. BertN taking photos before eating.]

Before I forget, thanks for eating chicken... just eat more to increase the demands of our farm product. You'll surely help me and my employer in coping with the global economic crisis. o",)

Around the Middle East, it seem Saudi Arabia is minimally affected by this current crises. Emmirates are the worst hit and Qatar looks like the most stable.

But looking at what you order. You don't seem to mind your nest egg is cut by almost half. : )

Missy, there is indeed job security in the military, not to mention an excellent retirement plan after, at least, 20 years of service.

daily photographer, I hope the economy turns for the better and soon. The "so called economic experts" are saying that it will still get worse before it gets better. I hope they are wrong, as they often are LOL.

RJ, food is always plentiful and cheap here but things are changing now. Everything is going up except woman's skirt LOL.

If it is not too bothersome, to me and to others, I sometimes take photos of food at the table. At my age, they look better than sexy girls in bikinis LOL.

BlogusVox, I'm glad to know that most countries in the Middle East are only minimally affected by this worldwide economic crisis. I worry about some of our OFWs losing their jobs. It's bad for them, their families and our country.

BTW, my order was one of the cheapest on the menu LOL. I'll make it a point to go to lunch instead of dinner at some of these resto, serving is a little less but it is cheaper LOL.

the future is really getting more and more grim this time----there was even a prediction in a blog----the the American economy will completely collapse by April 20, 2009....hope not----nyways---during these hard economic conditions, I guess the best thing to do is to really spend less and save more----

I don't think anybody really knows what direction the American economy is headed but it is a credit to the current administration that it is doing its best, so it seems, to get it turned in the right direction.
