Conservatory of Flowers, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco

I was walking inside the Golden Gate Park when a motorist slowed down and asked me for the direction to the Conservatory of Flowers. Although I am a frequent visitor to the park, this is the first time I heard of this place. I later referred to a map of the park to pinpoint its location
and the following day I went to check it out for myself. It is an OK place to visit but it pales in comparison to the nearby De Young Museum, the California Academy of Science or even the Botanical Garden for the admission fee it charges.

This dahlia garden is a stone's throw from the observatory and equally interesting.

George, I'm glad I'm in good company. I have a confession to make, now that I am at the age I am, flowers do look more attractive to me than the bikini-clad girls at the beach. I wonder why?

Sidney, when you have your own carnivores, invite me so we can both watch them devour their meals. That will probably be one of the most unexciting thing we'll do...next to watching my tomato plant grow in my backyard LOL.

Babaylan, THANKS for dropping by!

Photo Cache, you probably do not know, but I am a keen follower of your blog. You've been to most of the places I had been and you are driving me nuts for making me aware of the things I missed. If you ever feature a beach scene with nudists sunbather...please don't!! I will kill myself by doing a bungee jump with the rope tied around my neck instead of my feet.

These are the kind of flowers that grow in cold areas. I remember photographing flowers like these esp the 2nd to the last photo in Tagaytay City.

Always refreshing to see wonderful flower photos.

i love the flowers. i like the anthuriums because they always remind me of my lola. She used to grow these in her backyard.

Now you're making me want to visit the Bronx Botanical Garden - one that I've always wanted to go to yet I kept postponing "kasi andyan lang naman yan".

Reena, salamat naman. Akala ko si John Mayer lang ang love mo LOL.

Joy, my week? It was boring until it rained yesterday and today.
You would not understand unless you live in Southern California LOL.

The Nomadic Pinoy, isn't that always the case for travel bugs like us? LOL.

I once traveled a great distance to see what turned out to be a rinky-dink museum and yet we have world class museums within easy reach that I have not visited because "andyan lang naman yan".

i think those are pitcher plants on your 3rd photo here; i remember studying about them back in pre-med days.

the place is gorgeous! i bet it can effortlessly melt any worries away. and you captured most blooms and greens so vividly!

bertN said...

Did you take botany in your pre-med?

I usually spend my spare time in parks, local and national, because they have a calming effect on me.

There's a conservatory in Adelaide Botanical Garden, as well. I felt like I was in the Philippines when I did a tour inside 3 years ago. The biggest daw 'yon in Southern Hemisphere.

But the plants and their flowers in this conservatory is much better! Sabi nila, kailangan ng millions of dollars to maintain a tropical environment like this in a temperate or Mediterranean-like climate like what you have in California.

Wow, nice photos all over here. Galing ng pagkakuha from the eye of a keen photographer.
I'd like to visit place such as this (if we have like that here in the Philippines). My wife and kid would surely love it.
I also like the photos of Japanese Tea Garden. It's kind of exotic place for me...

OMG, you're in flower heaven, I envy you. That orchid is soooo fluffy I could die, hahaha... ang ganda. I love the pitcher plant photo, I thought it was a wild plant.
