My home away from home

I am just kidding LOL. I already moved up a to a tent with a rain fly and when I feel like loosening up my wallet, I stay in budget motels. Now I often stay in hotels rated 3 stars or better. If my wife is going with me, it has to be rated 4 stars at least, or I will be traveling by myself.

Old age spoiled me.... actually it limited my options. I can no longer sleep hidden in a bush outdoor, in a bench at a bus station, or a cozy nook at the airport or if I were driving, in a quiet side street, a rest area or a campground. I guess I can still do these but I will not be at ease and comfortable as I was when I was young and care-free. Now I worry too much about so many things that can only happen in my imagination, like being raped by a blonde nymphomaniac LOL.

How you wish, Bert! ;)

Even in my younger days, the only place I could sleep and live roughly was on the beach because the sea was always just there to dunk oneself into. Mud and bugs, no thank you.

Where and what is this hut?

Hahaha! My wife said I'll probably win the superlotto twice but it will never happen. Blondes are not that dumb LOL.

I saw that hut in a nature park where at times I do my walks.

back when i was on my 4th year in med school, i used to sleep in monoblock chairs put together while on benign duties at the ER. looking back, i don't think i can do it again and will not ever; not that i'm older now but it isn't comfortable and worse, it wasn't part of my medical training. there was no learning there, i mean.

regardless whether it's in a 4 star hotel or benches at a bus station, we all deserve comfort; and we have options to be comfortable, right? unless situations call for it.

btw, you had me at your last statement here. =)

docgelo, although I was not a medical student, I have friends who were and I know how much they sacrificed to get their degree. They worked harder and longer in college than I ever did as a student. Maybe not harder, but definitely longer - I opted for a 4year college degree because I was a natural born slacker LOL. I still am.

I know what you mean about old age (in my case, not yours) spoiling things. Many years ago I would have been happy with your home away from home, but now I need the motel.
Thanks for visiting my site.

when i was a kid, i used to make huts like this, except it's made up of banana leaves. (and i play house with friends and my puppies were my babies. hehe) but at the end of the day, i still go home and sleep in my bed. i can't imagine sleeping outdoors. i don't think i can, unless i was dropped off into the amazon forest.

tama, you stay indoors nlng bert. mahirap na. baka your dream of getting raped by a blondie will come true pa. hahahha...

LOL at "being raped by a blonde nymphomaniac". naku, soon we won't be able to just sleep anywhere too once our baby travels with us. now we really gotta save up before a trip.

George, I know the feeling LOL. Thanks for dropping by.

Reena, try sleeping outdoor. It is a lot of fun, especially at your age. Just be sure you are in a safe environment. Camping is fun unless a mean bear invade your campsite.

Pinay Travel Junkie, you are right. While your baby is developing her immunities, you can't take too many chances. The baby's health is paramount, especially when one is on the road.

That exactly looks like a hut here in the Philippines.
On my retirement days, I'm planning to bike around the Philippines and maybe camp on safe places during night time. Now, I wonder if I can still do that when I reach the same age as yours :D

On a side note: I already traveled around the Philippines taking photos during my college days until in my early twenties. I remember I can just sleep anywhere (even in police stations in Masbate and Antique having been mistaken as NPA informer). Anyways, those are the days. I want to relive those care free days on my retirement years but reading this blog entry of yours, I doubt now for myself :)

dodong flores, if you want to bike around the Philippines, do it when you are at your prime; it is harder to do when you are older. Kaya lang ang road and traffic conditions sa atin are a constant challenge at any age.

I do not know how you do it and enjoy the experience, but bike commuting in the city is hard and dangerous - ingat lang.

When i was in my college days, i had to sleep on a wooden bed with banig as cover, now that i have work, i now sleep in a mattress, but i make sure i wake up as early as possible or sleep will get the better of me.

Exactly, I must agree with you. But while I am on my prime, I can't simply do this dream of riding my bicycle around the country because of the nature of my work. So, I'm thinking to leave off the idea for sometime until my retirement.
A lot of people did it already. One fellow from Cagayan de Oro already biked from Aparri to Zamboanga using his mountain bike. He just follow the Maharlika Highway and used ferries at some point. He did it at the age of 47.
I don't know if we've gone too far from the topic, Hehehe. But I think the connection between your topic and my comment is about old age, sleeping in the outdoor, and the being raped by a blonde nymphomaniac, Hehehe :D

So who does live there?

We all deserve some kind of comfort when travelling - it's part of the experience :)
