2011 Orange County Fair, a brief visit

We are having our kitchen renovated so for the last three days we have been eating out or bringing in take out food. I did not realize how important a kitchen is until ours is temporarily out of commission LOL.  For a change,  I thought it will be good idea to go to the OC Fair and try their food since this year's theme is Let's Eat. It was a disappointment: the food is so-so and costs a lot more than comparable food outside but what the heck, this is at the fair.

It is OK to stroll inside the fair and drink your beer or wine as long as you are of legal drinking age.

They cook food with wood, and I think that's the best way to cook food, it's entirely different when cooked with LPG, more tasty, methinks. And yes, your pictures said something about you getting to diet. I heard it. LOL

I agree that county fair food probably doesn't rate 5 stars, but the fair only comes around once a year. I hope that the rest of the fair was more enjoyable than the food.

Sa tingin ko masarap, all cooked using firewood! U

That balloon on the water, I won't do it, susumpong tiyak ang vertigo ko dyan.

NEXT POST: ang renovated kitchen! Yey!

funny sign at the end. been only to one county fair so far. i am not comfy with too many people around. allergic ako sa crowded places :)

Gita, mahina talaga ang resistance ko sa gastronomic temptations LOL.

sheng, iba talaga ang luto sa kahoy. Talagang masarap dahil gutom ka na bago maluto. Lalu na kung umuulan at walang silungan. Seriously, my days of field works in Pinas were the best...bar none.

George, everything in the fair is enjoyable, even if I often belly-ache about the price and quality of the food. I've been going to this fair every year...either I'm a nut case or I know when something is good.

RJ, sa tingin mo at sa lasa ko, its good maski na namamahalan ako LOL.

I'm not going to do the balloon also unless I want to feel drunk withou drinking.

Photo Cache, that's me! I'm not comfortable in crowded places. I prefer being in the woods by myself. I enjoy solo hiking and camping.

i saw a lot of grilled delights on your photos; how did you find them, so-so? mediocre? wala ba silang extra-special bbq sauce or anything that can perk up their offering?

i bet your wife has something in mind behind the kitchen renovation. if my little imagination is right, i am thinking of an expansion from your old kitchen. that's nice! a lot of space means good traffic in the kitchen bigger venue for cooking!
update us please on the renovation. i and the rest of your readers, im sure are interested, haha! :)

ps : the signage at the last photo appeared so lethal! nakakatakot! haha! ....swing to my blog and see some toothsome products from our humble kitchen. :)

docgelo, if you are not seeking anything special, OK lang yung kanilang bbq. I perked up the offering with beer LOL.

I know what my wife have in mind with the kitchen renovation - to give me a headache LOL.

I am one of your blog's ardent visitors, kaya lang you make it so hard for me to lose weight. I am a glutton for punishment yata.

Wow, love the bbq! I bet the wood it would taste different, since what we do here is use charcoal for grilling. Yummy pics!

By the way, can you eat the ice in Ice Museum? Reminds me of popsicles.

Aleah, thanks for dropping by. I don't know if those ice on display are edible. There were no warming signs to the contrary though.

I agree with you on this - I find foods sold in street fairs more expensive. One thing too - I just can't eat my food properly while standing up in one corner next to the garbage bin :)

The Nomadic Pinoy, either that or sitting on a street curb LOL.

I feel hungry after seeing your pictures hehehe, I remember we went to OC fair one time around 2002 but I didn't see a lot of food. So I hope your kitchen is done now or else you'll be gaining a lot of weight eating out ;-P

Riding in a hamster ball-like looks fun, my son tried that one too but I haven't posted my pictures yet

I wouldn't mind the so-so food if I could pair it with booze. YEY, now that's an awesome fair :p

Reena, it's real. Malamig nga inside kaya yung mga visitors were provided with tiny blankets to wrap themselves up if they feel the need.

Btw, how come I'm having a hard time dropping comments at your site?

bing, the kitchen is now operational but the cook (my wife) isn't LOL.

Missy, I gained a lot of weight from our recent cruise...hikbi.

Rizalenio, masaya but it was too crowded because we came on a weekend.

Pinay Travel Junkie, anything tastes better with booze LOL. It is an unbeatable appetizer.
